Gnome-Be-Gone = Best Wedding Gift Ever!

Jana & Woody Burr have officially been named the winner of the "Best Wedding Gift Ever" contest! We are so lucky to have such cool friends, who appreciate and share our warped sense of humor.

For those of you not familiar with gnome folklore, the dreaded nemesis of the garden gnome is none other than the afore pictured Gnome-Be-Gone. Our new arrivals will ensure our garden stays free of those pesky gnomes. Thank you dear Jana & Woody!

I Now Pronounce You...

...man and wife. You may now kiss your bride. Our ceremony was held creekside at L'Auberge de Sedona, in Sedona, Arizona. Oak Creek runs right along the resort grounds, where a blue heron perched to watched part of our ceremony. It's one of our favorite places on this planet!

The guitarist was Bill Barns, and he performed Jack Johnson's song 'Better Together'.

Who'd have thought when we first connected on eHarmony, that this is where we would be three years later?

Many photos were taken at Red Rock Crossing, which is a beautiful display of Mother Nature's work in progress.

Slight chance of rain showers! It was a good thing that Jen & Mike brought a parasol just in case.
My pretty sister, Jessica, and my beautiful mother, Liz.

The cake was delicious! It was crafted by Sedona Cake Couture and had a top tier of pound cake with lemon filling and a bottom tier of chocolate espresso. Mmmm.

Our photographer was David Sunfellow, a Sedonan whose work we were thrilled with! Considering we gave him only two hours of shooting time, it's amazing that he provided us with well over 400 photos. We are incredibly happy with the results.

And they lived happily ever after...

Designers, mayors, and elections...oh my!

Earlier this year, Steve designed and remodeled the home of Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross and her husband Larry. They invited us to their celebration party on election night. This photo is of them just before President-elect Barack Obama gave his acceptance speech. Their new layout was perfect for entertaining and we had a great time!

Trick or Treat

We all went trick-or-treating together on Halloween, while my mom stayed at the house and passed out .....candy. Our community was as busy as ever; the neighbors behind us put the big screen up again and played scary movies, while the adults pulled out lawn chairs and enjoyed barbeque beef sandwiches. Someone parked their truck and trailor in the center of the cul-de-sac and a boy in a wherewolf costume howled from his cage (landscape trailor) to scare the trick-or-treaters. My mom gave out more than 18 pounds of candy, to more than 200 little characters before we ran out. Char and her friends Halle and Wendy volunteered to go back out and make a second round through the neighborhood so we could replenish our supply. We all stuffed ourselves on sugar, then Steve made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.

Weezer Concert

Kieran and I went to see the Weezer concert at the Arizona State Fair and had a great time! Crappy food, great music, and porta-potties = one fabulous evening.

Pumpkin Carving

Today was our annual pumpkin carving day. Quinn usually draws on his since he doesn't like to touch the slimey guts, although he did ask me to "open please". Charlotte created and carved an awesome horse and rider silhouette, McKenna made a cute black cat, and Kieran and I teamed up on the big kitty. The spider webs, hanging jack-o-lanterns, and skeleton were all Steve's handiwork. Twas lots o' fun and they look really cool when they are lit up!

Dog-eared Steve

Char and I were talking about ear piercings and Steve was boasting about his fashionable punk days. Somehow this conversation lead to wondering if I could still get an earring into one of his old holes (that's what she said). This was the most outrageous earring I could find, of course that didn't deter Steve from unabashedly posing for the camera.

Somebody's Getting Married

With less than 10 days to go until our big day, this classic Muppet video seems apropos for the occasion. Don't worry Steve...my crush on Kermit has tempered over the past 30 years.

Father & Daughter Dance

Not long ago, McKenna escorted Steve to the Gilbert Parks & Recreation Annual Father/Daughter Dance. McKenna looked beautiful in her new dress and pretty corsage. She led dad out to the dance floor and showed everyone there how to get a groove on. Steve had to really shake his booty to keep up with McK. They both slept well that night.

Charlotte the photographer

Charlotte's artistic eye has become increasingly more refined. The image above is one of my favorites. It's actually an egg timer (a la Jen) and is entitled Foul Interrogation. Char recently started posting some of her favorite images here: http://hoovesandhearts.deviantart.com/gallery/. We hope she'll continue her interest in photography.

Bedtime

For the past three weeks Quinn has been getting changed for bed and brushing his teeth all by himself. (We re-brush for him since he's not that thorough yet.) Once he's ready for bed, he comes to me, pulls my face close to his, and smiles REALLY big. :D He's so proud of himself! This has been on our wish list for so long - we are thrilled with this huge milestone!

The Five Second Rule

This weekend K came to me and said, "You've heard of the five second rule, right? Well it turns out that it isn't true." He went on to explain that if food is dropped, germs can get on it even though it's been less than five seconds. He was completely disenchanted.

Who are the Price Peeps?

I'm the step-mommy to four amazing and incredible children. Each one is totally different to the next and their individuality astonishes all who know them. The one common trait which they all enjoy is a great sense of humor. My hope with this blog is to capture a tiny beam of the beautiful light they emit, and share it with those who know and love them. Together with my husband, Steve, we are the Price Peeps.
